Why Serrano Bulldogs Are Perfect for Your Family 2022

The Serrano Bulldog was developed in the 1800s from the breeds brought to the southern Brazilian states by European immigrants.

The word “Serrano” is picked from a Portuguese word. Brazilians use this term for those who live in regions with hillsides or mountains.

This breed was mainly used in slaughterhouses where it could drag pigs by their ears and subdue cattle.

Due to hygienic issues, butcher shops and slaughterhouses stopped using this breed, and they became unemployed, and this breed is moving toward extinction.

The bulldog lover, Cynophile Ralf Schein Bender, successfully rescued the Serrano Bulldog from extinction.

In August 2009, the Confederação Brasileira de Cinofilia (CBKC) officially recognized this Bulldog breed as a separate breed and began to maintain the record of the breed.

Since then they had become perfect family companions along with American Bulldog.
